I am SO disappointed in the Americans today. I can't believe they voted Bush back into power. He decimated an entire country all for the sake of the almighty dollar and they see ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with it!!! What are they thinking!!!! Bush totally swept the Iraq invasion under the carpet of the abortion and gay rights issues! I will never understand how a whole country can be so deceived by their President when what he did was in full view of the whole world! The man is CLEARLY crooked but they so badly need someone to believe in that they would rather be deceived than see the truth and try and right the wrongs he committed.
I don't know that Kerry would have been better but frankly the only way he could have been worse would be for him to blow up another country. The worst part of this whole situation is that the majority of Americans got out to vote in hordes to tell Bush that EVERYTHING he has done in the last 4 years was right and ok. I am so glad to be a Canadian today.
On another note of disproval the Gender Issues Centre at the University is trying to get the Outpost to break a contract with Maxim magazine to host some model search event. They say that Maxim is a sexist and homophobic magazine and that holding that event in the Outpost creates an environment full of harassment and sexism. Personally, I think those people in the Gender Issues Centre are just looking for a fight to fight.
It's absolutely ridiculous! If there are women in the University who want to get up on that stage in a skimpy bikini and degrade themselves in front of a bunch of howling drunk men "I say all the power to ya!" It's their personal choice. It's also the personal choice of men to attend or not attend the event. The Gender Issues Centre has NO right to censor the shows the Outpost chooses to host. If someone finds the event offensive, discriminatory, demeaning or harassing then they shouldn't go to the Outpost that night. It's as simple as that.
I personally would never enter a contest like that, nor would I attend it but I think the people who want to, have a right if they choose to. If the event flops and no one shows then the Outpost will never host it again. But events such as that would not exist if the population to sustain them didn't. It's the same as saying prostitutes wouldn't exist if there were no 'John's' for them to service.
So if the Gender Issues people have a problem with the Maxim party they should be confronting the men who attend the event and the men who read Maxim magazine because they are the problem and not the Outpost. Maybe they could get Maxim magazine banned from the University campus! They seriously need to review their priorities as I'm sure there are other more worthy causes that could use their attention.
On a positive note I joined the new gym today. I went and worked out and I'm very excited about this! They have tons of classes you can take and you don't have to sign up, you just show up at them. I'm going to take a Yoga, Pilates and Seductive Dance class. They are offered at so many different times of day that I can acutally attend some after having to work all day.
